Arts, Briefly: Footnote Stéphane Lissner, the general director and artistic director of La Scala opera in Milan, Italy, will stay on through 2013, The Associated Press reported. Mr. Lissner, the first non-Italian to run the house in more than 200 years, joined La Scala in 2005; his contract was set to expire in 2009. A strike by the union Fials, which represents theater employees and musicians, has canceled several performances at La Scala since the summer, and could threaten its gala opening on Dec. 7.
